Broadway
*Idina Menzel/Eden Espinosa and Laura Bell Bundy (Understudy Day): June 13th, 2004: I haven't watched this yet so for now I will use qubrown11's description:
"Idina Menzel/Eden Espinosa (Elphaba/standby Elphaba), Laura Bell Bundy (s/b Galinda/Glinda),
Kristoffer Cusick (u/s Fiyero), Carole Shelley (Morrible), Randy Harrison (Boq), Sean McCourt (u/s Dr. Dillamond)
Understudy Day! Idina is Elphaba in the first half of this show, but by the time "Defying Gravity" rolls around she blows her voice out, so Eden takes over Act 2. And the rest of the leads are already understudies"
*Ana Gasteyer and Kate Reinders (last show): January 7th, 2007: Audio quality is crystal clear. Ana sounds brilliant here, and both Kate and Ana perform a very touching show. At the end of For Good, it gets so emotional that Kate and Ana stop singing all together and just ball their eyes out. A+.
*Mandy Gonzalez and Katie Rose Clarke (Mandy's last): January 30th, 2011: I've seen Mandy Gonzalez live three times and she is one of my all time favorites. It is a very emotional show and the quality is great. I recommend this show to people who aren't very familiar with Mandy. Katie is a goddess as always. A+.
*Jackie Burns and Kate Fahrner (F. Michael Haynie's first performance as Boq): September 25th, 2012: My master. Jackie Burns (Elphaba) is in great voice this night and is the witchiest Elphaba I've seen. Kate Fahrner (Glinda) is very funny and has a strong belt. A-.
*Jennifer DiNoia and Alli Mauzey: November 6th, 2012: My master. A clear recording of Jenny's (standby Elphaba) short return with the Broadway company of Wicked. Jenny goes riff crazy, keeping all of her riffs from Korea and even adding a few new ones. Alli (Glinda) is hilarious and has a strong soprano--she does the optional high note at the end of NOMTW. A-. RARE--limited trades only.
*Vicki Noon and Alli Mauzey: January 22nd, 2013: My master. A clear recording of Vicki Noon's (Understudy Elphaba) second performance on Broadway. She sounds incredible. For the most part, she is the same vocally as on tour, but she did add a few new riffs. Alli is also incredible in this and adds new high notes and riffs. All and all this is a fantastic recording of a fantastic cast. A-. RARE--limited trades only.
*Willemijn Verkaik (Broadway debut) and Alli Mauzey: February 12th, 2013: My master. A clear recording of Willemijn's Broadway debut. She has several line/lyric flubs, and holds back vocally, but overall has a great debut! Alli goes full out. A-
*Vicki Noon and Alli Mauzey: March 29th, 2013 (matinee): My master. Vicki is lovely and tries out new riffs in No Good Deed. Her portrayal has gotten sassier and overall much improvement since January. A-.
Los Angeles
*Caissie Levy and Emily Rozek: February 23rd, 2008: A fantabulous recording of one of Caissie's (Elphaba) better days. Audio quality is very good. Caissie sounds flawless here. Although, despite an almost perfect Defying Gravity, she doesn't even attempt the high F. Emily (standby Glinda) has a unique voice that I love, and sounds great with Caissie. A-.
*Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty: January 11th, 2009 (Closing LA show): Eden (Elphaba) and Megan (Glinda) send LA audiences out with a BOOM. Words can't describe how good this performance is. You must have it. A
SAN FRANCISCO
*Felicia Ricci and Libby Servais: June 11th, 2010: One of the few recordings of Fel and Lib together. Quality is ok. Felicia sings her heart out and Libby is hilarious. Her voice is so gorgous it makes me mad. Felicia just kept improving throughout her run. B-.
FIRST NATIONAL TOUR
*Victoria Matlock and Christina DeCicco: April 4th, 2007: A great quality audio of the famous Victoria VOB. In my opinion, Victoria and Christina are both very under rated. Christina does all of the optional high notes and Victoria, while she does have a bit of a sloppy "No Good Deed," is emotion filled and gives interesting riffs. A-.
*Carmen Cusack and Katie Rose Clarke: November 22nd, 2008 (Carmen's last on tour): Carmen is one of my favorite (and IMO, one of the most under rated) Elphabas. This is not her best performance as she is veery emotional and cries a lot. Katie IS my favorite Glinda and she ad libs a bit throughout the show. Great quality. A.
*Stephanie Torns and Katie Rose Clarke: February 22nd, 2009: The only known full recording of Stephanie (u/s) as Elphaba on Tour 1. Quality, sadly, is not good. There is feedback at points and the audio sounds distant at points. However, Stephanie is in her prime, and if you are interested in her, you'll love this audio. Katie is brilliant, and Stephanie attempts a high riff in Defying Gravity, but cracks. Although, whether this is Stephanie or the recording is a mystery. RARE--Limited trades only. C.
*Jackie Burns and Chandra Lee Shwartz: July 31st, 2010 (matinee): A decent recording of Jackie in the beginning of her run with Chandra. She sounds fresh here, and has a minor lyric flub in Defying Gravity. A great show for Jackie and Chandra fans! A-/B+
*Carla Stickler and Chandra Lee Schwartz in the first national tour: December 18th (matinee), 2010: Same as with Felicia, I have no idea why Carla is standby. Her voice is so pure and strong. Carla is fiesty! Chandra rocks my world. Brilliant quality. A must have for every trader. A+.
*Mariand Torres and Amanda Jane Cooper (closing show in Buffalo): May 22nd, 2011: An excellent capture of Buffalo's closing show. Mariand, standby Elphaba, gives a solid performance throughout, though riffs a bit much for my liking. Amanda is good, but kind of annoys me. Regardless, the cast is great and I believe the audio sounds like a soundboard. A+.
*Dee Roscioli and Amanda Jane Cooper: September 23/24th, 2011: The master of this audio's camera died part way through on the 23rd, so he recorded the things he missed on the 24th. Ok, so some of the links never work, so if you want to trade this, it has to be done via email, where I can send the working links and some audio clips as attachments. This will make it hard to post on youtube, if that is your plan. Dee is in her prime, and Amanda is starting to grow on me. A.
*Mamie Parris and Katie Rose Clarke: December 1st (matinee), 2011: Mamie does a good job here, but her voice sounds tired and she called out for the evening show. She doesn't do all of her big riffs but still sounds amazing. Katie is my favorite Glinda ever and I am so happy she came back. Her voice sounds like it has gotten even better since Broadway. Too bad she is gone. ): Anyway, a great show to listen to. A.
*Nicole Parker and Alli Mauzy: May 31st (matinee), 2012: Great audio of the 1NT's new witches! Nicole struggles a bit during the flying portion of "Defying Gravity," but adds a new riff on "tell them how I." Alli is great as always.
2nd National Tour
*Stephanie Torns and Tiffany Haas: April 7th, 2012: OMG is all I can say. This is truly a dream cast. Stephanie is just fantastic and Tiffany sounds gorgeous. I am hoping to get them both when I see the show again this Summer. This is a must have--Steph has really matured vocally since Broadway. A.
*Christine Dywer and Jeanna de Waal: July 7th, 2012 (matinee): Christine has mproved SO much from her standby days. She is just sounded fabulous. She takes it easy in this performance, and doesn't growl or riff much, but sounds great none the less. Jeanna makes a wonderful Glinda and her voice is perfect for the score. A.
*Christine Dwyer and Jeanna de Waal: July 7th, 2012 (evening): Christine goes full out here with her growls and riffs! Jeanna and the rest of the show is pretty much the same as the matinee.
*Christine Dwyer and Jeanna de Waal: August 22nd, 2012 (evening): My master. Christine is rifftastic and goes full out during this performance. She does crazy riffs "feeling things I've never felt," "I'm flying high defyYYYing gravity," "Fiyero!," and "aaaAAAAGAAAaaain" to name a few. And her acting is flawless--my favorite Elphaba. Jeanna is precious and has a smoky soprano which I love. Her accent slips out a few times. (: RARE--extremely limited trades. A-.
*Alyssa Fox and Jeanna de Waal: October 7th, 2012 (matinee): My master. Alyssa is an amazing Elphaba, giving lots of riffs here she didn't do in SF (this was her second performance as standby, and fourth performance ever). Jeanna is aslo amazing and one of my favorites. RARE--extremely limited trades. A-.
West End
*Kerry Ellis and Sarah Earnshaw: December 8th, 2007: I haven't listened to this yet but have been told it is great quality. A?
*Nikki Davis Jone and Gina Becks: February 11th, 2012: A great quality performance from London's current Glinda and Elphaba standby. Nikki has her great moments but vocally I think she does things that detract from the emotion. A.
Korea
*Jenny Dinoia and Suzie Mathers: June 3rd, 2012: Good quality recording of the new standby/alternate Elphaba on the Asian tour, Jenny. She produces many new jaw-dropping riffs that she never did on Broadway or in Chicago, such as "TAKE a message back," (second) "BRING ME DOOOOOOooooown," "ahahAHAaha," in Defying Gravity among others. Suzie (Glinda) is good too. A. RARE--Limited to no trades!
